The NBA has officially unveiled the trophy lineup for its much-anticipated In-Season Tournament, with The NBA Cup taking center stage. This exquisite piece of craftsmanship is the result of a collaborative effort between Tiffany & Co. and artist Victor Solomon.
Standing at 23 inches tall, The NBA Cup is a visually stunning amalgamation of gold and black. The gold not only aligns with the NBA's rich history of prestigious trophies but also signifies the highest level of achievement in the sport. The black adds a distinctive touch to the league's trophy collection, setting the In-Season Tournament apart.
Crafted from sterling silver, the trophy is adorned with a 24-karat gold vermeil and black ceramic coating. Its base is intricately detailed with net patterns that merge design elements from both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Championship Trophy bases. Beneath the trophy, the event logo of the NBA In-Season Tournament is prominently featured.
MVP and Team Recognition
The tournament's Most Valuable Player will be awarded the In-Season Tournament MVP Trophy. At 15 inches, the height of this trophy represents the 15 teams in each conference of the NBA. It features a dual-stemmed design, symbolizing the final two teams competing in the championship game.
In recognition of their victory, every player on the winning team will receive a commemorative medal. These medals are inscribed with "NBA In-Season Tournament Champions" and the year of the tournament on the front. On the back, the medals showcase a silhouette of The NBA Cup, accompanied by two tournament brackets and four balls representing the teams in the Las Vegas Semifinals.
All-Tournament Team Honors
Following the tournament, a select panel of media members will have the responsibility of choosing the All-Tournament Team. This esteemed group will consist of five players who have demonstrated remarkable skill and performance throughout the event.
Each member of the All-Tournament Team will also receive a trophy. These unique awards feature a solid black crystal basketball with gold channels, one of which displays a bracket motif as a nod to the tournament's format.
Tournament Progress and Upcoming Games
The Indiana Pacers recently clinched a spot in the East semifinal after a 122-112 win over the Boston Celtics in the first quarterfinal match. Similarly, the New Orleans Pelicans secured their place in the semifinals by defeating the Sacramento Kings with a score of 127-117.
The remaining semifinal contenders will be decided following the matchups between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, and the Milwaukee Bucks versus the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. The semifinal games are slated for Thursday, December 7, leading up to the championship showdown on Saturday, December 9.
Fanfare and Entertainment
Apart from the on-court action, Toshiba Plaza will transform into a hub of fan engagement during the tournament. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the larger-than-life NBA Cup trophy, purchase exclusive merchandise, and partake in interactive basketball-themed activities.
Adding to the excitement, music icons Nelly and TLC are scheduled to perform in a unique head-to-head singing battle during the intermission between the two semifinal games. This performance is part of the new reality competition series "The Sum: All-Star Music Battle." Fans aged 18 or older can apply for a chance to perform alongside these legendary artists.
